Why this is worth having
Task tools are good at one-off lists and bad at the work a service business actually does, which is the same sequence of steps repeated for a different customer every week. So the checklist ends up in a document somebody copies, and the copy drifts from the original, and eventually two people are working from different versions of the process.
02HOW IT WORKS
The mechanism
- A project is a template you instantiate, not a folder you fill in. The sequence lives once and every job gets the current version of it.
- Recurring work is first-class — it regenerates on its schedule rather than being cloned by hand and forgotten in December.
- Tasks carry dependencies, so the second step does not become somebody’s problem until the first is done.
- Completion is an event, which means it can move a pipeline stage, trigger a message, or release an invoice without a person joining those things up.

The same job, the fortieth time
- A project template holds the nine steps a install actually takes, in order, with who normally does each.
- A new job instantiates it with dates derived from the scheduled visit.
- Step four cannot start until step three is signed off, so nobody arrives to do work that is not ready.
- Marking the last step complete releases the invoice and sends the follow-up — because those are rules on the template, not habits in a person.

Does it handle recurring work?
Yes, as a first-class thing rather than as a copied checklist — recurring work regenerates on its own schedule and stays attached to the customer and the calendar. That is the case most task tools handle worst, so it is worth checking against whatever you use now.
Can I template a job I do repeatedly?
Yes. Project templates hold the sequence once; every instance gets the current version, so improving the process improves every future job rather than only the next one somebody remembers to update.
